Surprise!

How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Phil and I spent ours with family, eating delicious food and setting up our apartment for Christmas! I know, I know, you are supposed to wait until December 1st. to purchase a Christmas tree because it dries out, and can burn down your house if a candle gets too close to it. Well husband and I like to live life on the edge. Holiday candles are burning and our tree us up!  I’ll put up pics of our first Christmas tree and apartment décor later this week!

Oh yea, and I successfully threw Phil a surprise 25th birthday party. Major wife points for me! It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do…. Keeping it from him for over a month! Apparently I’m a better liar (more an avoider of questions actually) than I thought. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Here is a sneak peek of us at the party. Can you tell what the theme was???
Thanks again Melinda for hooking us up with the photobooth! You are AMAZING and I owe you big time!

Happy Thanksgiving

Tomorrow (and probably for a few days afterwards) I’m not going to blog. I’m going to enjoy my family and eat waaaayyyy too much turkey. Then take a nap. Then make a turkey sandwich. Then complain that I ate too much. It’s going to be a brilliant day.

Sheesh, there are so many things to be thankful for everyday. If I listed all of them this blog would be infinitely too long.  Here are a few things I’m definitely thankful for…

Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior
Husband and all his handsome manliness
My family and our newest addition Miss Chloe
My in-lawed family, they are wonderful in so many ways
Countless good friends, and all the laughs, cries and unforgettable moments we’ve shared
My job, even if it makes me crazy sometimes
A working car. If you’ve ever had to push your heavy, old, gas gauge broken car before you understand
Morning sunrises
Coffee and how it makes me nice to people
Clean sheets. Oh they smell heavenly.
The color orange
A few bucks in the bank
Living in the US and the opportunity to vote
Doctors. I don’t know how they do it, but I’m grateful they do.
Smiles. It’s amazing how just a smile can change someone’s whole day.
Cuddling with husband
The endless possibilities each day holds
And husband again. Every day I have to pinch myself that I married the most amazing man in the world.

Have an incredible Thanksgiving! I know I will!

Medieval times

This weekend Phil and I helped celebrate his aunt’s birthday by going to Medieval Times! I think it is amazing that his aunt wanted to go there for her 70th birthday! She is definitely young at heart. We wore the Red Knights crowns all night, which look horrible on everyone, besides my handsome husband of course. That guy can make anything look good. Anyways, we ate our food with bare hands, so inevitably we smelled like chicken for the rest of the day. I wonder if people back then always smelled like chicken. Hmmm interesting.  Sadly, our knight was the loser of the joust. He lost first. We cheered him on anyways though! E for effort Red Knight!
The most amusing part of the evening was when I had to climb over my seat to find the restroom. Oh my goodness, I always seem to make a spectacle of myself. The seats are stadium seating, with chairs that fold up and down so unless you climb over your chair you can’t go to the restroom during the show. As you are probably aware, I’m kinda short. When I tried to climb over the seat, my leg didn’t quite reach where it was supposed to.  Then I stepped on the folding part of the chair, folded my leg and ankle in it, AND slipped! Thankfully husband was there to catch, laugh at and help me to not fall on everyone’s food. This graceful charade bruised nothing but my ankle, and ego a little. Maybe next year we can go somewhere where the bathrooms are slightly more accessible. Overall we had a great time celebrating his Aunts birthday!

Christmas Cards

Phil and I need to order our Christmas cards soon. I’m trying to figure out which type of card we should send out. There are a few ideas I like below, with some pictures of us that could work. What do you think? Are you sending out a Christmas card this year?
Option #1
This picture could work… and yes, that's me upside-down.

Option #2
Etsy shop to order this card.

This picture could work…

Option #3... minus the baby of course.

Free Bird

Yesterday I was in a work meeting and the strangest thing happened. Lynyrd Skynyrd called for our tech guy. The phone paged and my ears and the ears of Tech guy heard, “Tech guy line 1, it’s Lynyrd Skynyrd.” In a meeting of about 15 people only Tech guy and I were confused and slightly excited at the possibility. Is the whole band on the phone? Can they hum a few bars of Free Bird? Who would have thought that Lynyrd Skynyrd would call our office for…. Toner? Wait a minute that didn’t sound right. Apparently the person that called was Lysette Skynd. The person paging had a very, very thick accent.  Needless to say I was bummed, and had Free Bird stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Dinner plans

Phil and I are usually right on with planning our meals each week. We make a list of all the dishes we will cook, and make a list of all the ingredients we need for the week. Then buy it all at once! It saves money eating at home, and eliminates the headache of trying to figure out what to cook after you get home from work. It might be just me, but if I have to try to figure out what to cook for dinner after a long day at the office it’s painful. I stare at the cupboard blankly and usually yell to husband the whole time, “Do you feel like pasta… oh wait we have no sauce… Do you feel like tortillas and……. Something else……. Wait, I don’t feel like any of those things……. Ummmmm……. Do you feel like….” It’s a vicious cycle. Last night was not a planned out meal, so husband made us soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. It was perfect. Oh how I love that man.

Live and Learn

This weekend was packed, and I loved every second of it. One of the weekend highlights was seeing our friends get married. At their wedding we laughed with old friends, showered the couple with love and gifts, and husband and I ate way too many jelly beans. The wedding favors were cute bags filled with jelly beans and husband and I were too excited. We practically emptied the whole bag into our mouths. Have you ever eaten more than one flavor at the same time? It’s not a good idea. But we did it anyways. Sometimes you just have to live and learn!

How was your weekend??? Did you have friends over? Relax at home? I'd love to hear!

Phone dependent

Yesterday I left my phone at home when I went to work. This made my day feel oddly incomplete. Like I was missing my arm. Or missing a shoe. Or missing a large piece of my brain. I honestly didn’t really realize how much I use my phone during the day! Here are a few things I realized I cannot do without my phone.
1.       Know the time. I did have a shinny bracelet on my wrist that has some numbers, 2 hands, and I’m pretty sure it was ticking all day long, but for some reason I still didn’t have the time. Apparently my wrist watch is just for looks, and useful for nothing but prettiness.
2.       Communicate with husband all day long. I’m not sure how you are, but Phil and I text each other throughout the day and during our lunch breaks. Not texting makes me miss him! Sappy I know. But it’s true.
3.       Remember important phone numbers. I know my parent’s old phone number, and my best friend from high schools parents’ phone number. That’s it. If an emergency happened yesterday my friends parents would be getting a phone call! Lucky them!
4.       Recollect what I’m doing this weekend. Yep, my phone calendar rules my life.
5.       Take pictures of myself, or of funny things that happen throughout the day. Don’t judge. You know you do it too.

Has this ever happened to you??? Share your phone dependent experience!
