Windshield Wipers

Who knew how necessary windshield wipers were!? Oh wait, you all did? Everyone besides me in the world apparently knew. I’ve been using the same wipers for about 10 years now and over the last decade they have become less and less… helpful. However since I live in sunny Southern California I don’t need them very often so I didn’t notice they were unwilling to preform their duties. 

There comes a point when wipers are pretty much useless and you need to hang your head outside of the car, while it is raining, in order to drive. Lesson learned.

Are you here to stay Fall?

 It’s official! Fall is here! Now you may be thinking, “Well technically it has been fall for a few weeks, where have you been Laura!?!” Nope. In my book if it is 100 degrees, I have my air conditioner going full blast all day, it’s 10pm and I’m still sweating, it’s not Fall yet. The only reason I know that Fall is here for sure is because I found this on my cooled off patio. This pretty red, auburn and mustard yellow leaf. Then it rained yesterday! Oh the rain brings joy to my heart. Plus I don’t have to have the AC on all the time so it saves us a few bucks! Thank you Jesus for sending the rain! Keep it coming!

Back in action

Hey blogging world! Sorry I’ve been slacking on my blog but husband and I were away attending two funerals this weekend/Monday and Tuesday. I’m back now and ready to get the party started! When I say party, I mean sitting at my laptop, making myself laugh, as I drink too much coffee and share with you life through my eyes. That sounded creepy. Oh well!

Last Friday I spent the evening with this little handsome. He might be the happiest almost 1 year old in the world. Love him!

Cash-only

Free coffee tastes much better than bought coffee. Don’t you agree? Every few weeks I pick up donuts for my Marketing team at a cash-only establishment. This morning I only had enough cash for the glazed, sprinkled, and chocolate assortment of donuts. As I frantically searched my purse for an extra dollar, the owner noticed and gave me the coffee for free today! I guess he saw the desperation in my eyes, or the shaky hands, or the fact that I had my sweater on inside out! Whatever swayed him to take pity on me, I’m absolutely okay with. In fact, he just earned himself a loyal customer.

Windex cures all

Lately I’ve noticed that I’m like the father on the movie My Big Fat Greek wedding. I’m not saying I’m feeling like a middle aged, hairy, Greek man, because that would just be uncomfortable. I’m saying that I think the cure for many, many things is Windex! Phil asked me the other day what he should use to clean a few things and every time my answer was Windex! It was at that moment I realized Gus Portokalos from the movie is undeniably right, any ailment from psoriasis to poison ivy could be cured with Windex.

Oh yea, and it’s Friday! Who else has been looking forward to this day all week?! Weewww hewww!! Anyone have plans for the weekend? I'd love to hear what you have on the agenda!

Friday, Friday, Friday

Finally it’s FRIDAY!!! I’ve been looking forward to this day since Monday. Not that Monday was a particularly horrible day but Monday I made plans with my besties to hangout tonight. Not just one of my favorite friends but THREE!!! Oh yes, tonight should be full of laughs, delicious food, and lots, Lots, LOTS of talking. When we are all together we all talk at the same time. It appears to others that we aren’t listening to each other but shockingly we are! We might sound like seagulls squawking. Let the squawking begin!

Loooong Weekend

This weekend was busy, to say the least. Friday night husband and I double-dated with our oh so stylish, friends Nathan and Melinda. We took them to a famous little hole in the wall café near our house. We all ate like gluttons, laughed from our belly’s, played a little scrabble (Phil and I are an old couple and make our friends play scrabble with us) and never felt better about it.

Saturday through Sunday, Phil and I took care of our adorable nephew James. Yes through, we had this little handsome overnight, and we rocked it!! This little guy had my heart before but after this weekend it’s lost forever.

Sunday Phil and I MC’d our churches Fall Kick-Off Event. I don’t want to toot our own horn here, but “toot toot!” The event included dunking for apples, a pie bake off, watermelon eating contest, truck pushing contest, and oh so much more. I would have taken a few pics but I was too busy running around like a mad-woman. Needless to say, our weekend was absolutely phenomenal. I do however need a weekend, from my weekend. Does that make sense? No? Oh well, it’s Monday!
